Iceland’s seasoned instructors impart the basics of frozen gliding, and public sessions open the rink to casual skaters, families, and autodidacts. Classes are held seven nights a week and gather groups based on age, ability level, and love of Daylight Saving Time. Introductory students receive free skate rental and admission to all public sessions to keep them on their feet while practicing. The facility happily straps skates to the feet of anyone who will sit still, but students should provide their own warm clothes, including gloves and socks patterned with Garrison Keeler’s countenance.
When guests are not whipping around the rink during a public session, they can retire to tables overlooking the ice and enjoy a complimentary hot chocolate or steamy snack from the Ice Age Café. Neon lights transform icy escapades into slippery disco dancing during Light Night sessions, during which the movie, game, or viral video of the night lights up the overhead projection screen.

About Iceland Ice Skating Center
The gleaming blades of ice skates glide across the smooth, subzero surface of Iceland Ice Skating Center’s rink as guests swish in circles or try out their fancy footwork. Skaters of all abilities can enroll in skating classes to master pinpoint turns, develop graceful pirouettes, or learn how to shave with a tightly fastened skate. Public-skate sessions give skaters freestyle time on the ice, and thumping beats and a phosphorescent ambiance spice up skate sessions during Disco Light Night. Kids aged 4 and older can climb into unique, safe bumper cars and glide on the ice at up to 5 miles per hour during bumper-car sessions, and shoe-wearing players can assemble for a game of broomball, a hockey-like game played with a broom instead of a stick and legions of frozen-solid dust bunnies instead of a puck.
