Q:

I will be in New York for 5 days. It's $55 per day to park at the hotel I am staying at. Could I buy 5 of these and park at one of your lots instead? Each morning I could just exit the lot, cash in 1 groupon then drive around the block then park again for the next 24 hour period. Would that be allowed?

Ed C.  asked on  Jan 31, 2013

A:

The day pass is not intended to be used in this fashion and we would advise against it. However the rules do not prevent it. You would physically have to remove the car from the location, return to the location, be issued a new parking ticket. Other people have tried this with past Groupons and have had mixed results. You also must keep in mind that the computers in the garages calculate fees exactly. If you are a few minutes late on a given day, the systems would automatically calculate an additional cash amount due beyond the Groupon. Attempting to leave too early before the 24 horus is up woul cause you to lose that time since the clock restarts once you re-enter.

Q:

Not sure what your definition of exotic car is. I don't think I've ever been charged more for parking a BMW in an Icon garage, do you consider it exotic?

A:

A BMW is fine

Q:

Hi, I looked at the list for over sized vehicles but I'm not sure if I'm on the list. I own a 2004 ford explorer, the list says 2011 explorer. Does that mean all explorers or just that year? Thank you, Lisa

A:

Your fine, the 2004 Explorer is not overiszed.

Q:

When does the parking time begin? The coupon says its for 24 hours but does that mean from the time you enter the garage, you have until the next day at the same time?

Lauren G.  asked on  Jan 30, 2013

A:

Yes, thats exactly what happens. the time starts the moment they issue you your parking ticket. The time ends the moment you pay for that ticket (in this case paying with the Groupon). For example if you enter at 1pm on Wednesday, you can stay until 12:59pm Thursday and your Groupon will cover that entire period. It's important to note that you can only use ONE groupon per visit without exception. If you stay beyond the 24 hour period, the additional time would be paid at the garage at the normal garage daily rate which is posted at each garage. You can not pay for additional days using coupons or expired groupons.

Q:

I did not see my vehicle on the list of oversized vehicles however, it states that the list is not a complete list and cars might be included that are not on the list. That being said, I park at icon all the time and they do not usually charge me an oversize fee for my Honda Odyssey, but they did on a few occassions including last week. How can I know for sure what the policy is before I purchase?

lisa t.  asked on  Jan 30, 2013

A:

Icon unlike most other parking companies does not charge an oversize fee on minivans. The only exception to that rule would be the addition of something on top of the vehicle that would increase it's standard factory height such as a cargo container on the roof.

Q:

I bought a few of these last year and they are great. But I have one leftover that has expired. Can I use the cost of the unused pass ($16) towards the purchase of new ones?

Stan G.  asked on  Jan 30, 2013

A:

Sorry to say no. The expired groupon is only valid as a $16 credit towards the noramal daily parking rate at Icon locations.

Q:

How can I be sure that a monthly spot will be available at my desired location?

Beth  asked on  Jan 30, 2013

A:

We've only allocated enough spaces to groupon based on space available. We also recommend once you purchase the monthly option that you call the reservation number provided on the voucher to indicate the day you want to start. You can start on day you want prior to April 30th.

Q:

how much is the tax?

daniel r.  asked on  Jan 30, 2013

A:

The tax is included in the day pass. For the monthly the tax is an additional 18.375%. If you have a Manhattan resident tax certificate issued by the city of New York, the tax on the monthly offer would be 10.375%.

Q:

As soon as this group on is purchased it is active? Or what do I need to do to activate it?

Mary O.  asked on  Jan 30, 2013

A:

As soon as Groupon processes your order and your voucher is ready to print you can use it. For the monthly option we ask that you call the number provided on your voucher to register for your monthly space. For the day pass you can simply visit ANY Icon location and show your day pass voucher when ready to exit. Visit www.iconparking.com to search for day pass locations. Also keep in mind that ONLY one day pass may be used per stay. If you stay multiple days, you can only use one day pass and the balance would be charged at the normal daily rate for that location. The day pass can not be combined with coupons or other groupons including expired Groupons.

Q:

I'm pretty sure that a Subaru Forester (small SUV) does not count as a truck, but I want to be sure before buying this. Can you clarify this for me, please? Thanks!

Teresa A.  asked on  Jan 30, 2013

A:

Your fine, the Forester is not considered a truck or an oversized vehicle. You cna visit www.iconparking.com/oversize for a list of oversize vehicles.
