The atmosphere was warm and fun. The service was very good, even with a full restaurant of customers. The server/hostess knew returning guests by name and their favourite orders. And what was that brand of Syraz? I loved it x 2 glasses! It's nice to have a great alternative to the "chain" restaurants (and I swear, Maple Ridge is the fast food capital of Canada!). Suggest you make a reservation even on a week night as we were there on a Wednesday and they were full. Admittedly though, there were many Groupon procrastinators in the crowd, who waited to the last day to use their Groupon - just like we did!

Great food. Excellent atmosphere. Just sit back and relax. This place ain't a fast food joint.

What You'll Get

Pioneering Italians were not only the first to put tomatoes in cuisine, they were also the first people to take photographs of themselves pretending to hold up the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Delight in their inventiveness with today's Groupon to Il Corsaro in Maple Ridge. Choose between two options:

  • For $8, you get $20 worth of Northern Italian cuisine and drinks during lunch.
  • For $15, you get $30 worth of Northern Italian cuisine and drinks during dinner.

Il Corsaro transports the flavours of Northern Italy onto sun-tinged menus for both lunch and dinner. The mixed antipasto for two ($13.95 for lunch, $17.95 for dinner) samples sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, prosciutto and salami, bocconcini cheese, and olives for a motley medley paralleled only by the original cast of Degrassi. Lunch crams gustatory explosions into midday fare such as the meatball panini ($7.95) and the vegetariano frittata ($9.95). Dinner entrees highlight veal variations, including the house specialty veal saltimbocca, layering veal with prosciutto and mozzarella, sautéed in liquefied Mediterranean sunbeams and a garlic-white-wine sauce ($16.95 for lunch, $19.95 for dinner). The wine list surveys Italian selections ($5.95+/glass, $21.95+/bottle), as well as classic martinis ($7.25).

Opened more than 30 years ago by Italian immigrants, Il Corsaro keeps its small 28-seat restaurant enveloped in terra-cotta walls, dark wood booths, and wrought-iron fixtures. Dim lighting and warm artwork add a romantic, comfortable feel to the space, akin to heart-studded pajama pants.
