Benjamin Franklin ominously mused that “three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead” after reading his diary to a pair of pancakes. Celebrate both Ben and Philadelphia’s rich history with today’s Groupon: for $18, you get one admission to a Breakfast With Ben interactive event along with a self-guided audio city tour at the Independence Visitor Center (a $35.95 value). Though not included in today’s Groupon, children’s tickets to the event are available for $9.95, and can be purchased when making reservations.

The Independence Visitor Center whisks guests back in time with an array of events, reenactments, and tours that delight history buffs of all ages. Hosted in the Independence Visitor Center’s Liberty View Ballroom every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Breakfast With Ben introduces morningtime munchers to the nation’s favorite bifocaled kite wrangler. Diners wag chins with the colonial renaissance man, discussing his life and legacy while working up the courage to ask him how to properly work the foot-treadles on their in-home electrical generators. Strike a model-fierce pose alongside Mr. Franklin as a picture is snapped and printed on a magnet, perfect for endowing midnight fridge raids with an air of noble-pate gravitas.

Post feast-and-greet, embark upon a self-guided audio tour through the historical city, leisurely strolling past the bewigged ghosts of days gone by. Included in the tour is a CD player that relays 74 minutes of narration, a detailed map including 20 historic sites, and a roll of scotch tape to patch up the Liberty Bell.

Other destinations include the National Museum of Jewish History, Penn’s Landing, Independence Visitor Center, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Philadelphia Zoo.

Customer Reviews

Philly PHLASH truly is the best way for any tourist to see Philadelphia! I've recommended it to others on multiple occasions and finding a Groupon was a bonus!
