What You'll Get
The first tragedy was staged in 1100 BC, when Mycenaean teenager Eurychrona Diameriza reenacted her parents' denial of her request to borrow the chariot. Take part in a modern iteration of the theatrical tradition with today's Groupon: for $19, you get one premium-seat ticket to the Indiana Repertory Theatre's production of Around the World in 80 Days (a $42.50 value with service fees). Choose from three performance dates:
- Saturday, May 1, at 1 p.m.
- Sunday, May 2, at 7 p.m.
- Wednesday, May 5, at 7:30 p.m.
Buy multiple Groupons to accommodate your entourage, and follow the instructions on your Groupon to reserve your seats.
Around the World in 80 Days takes the audience along with Phileas Fogg and his valet, Passepartout, as they fly, sail, and elephant their way across the dizzily spinning globe to win an outrageously placed wager. Discover how the intrepid gentlemen fare without the aid of modern conveniences such as planes, Amtrak, and Superman. Phileas and Passepartout encounter a number of peoples along their travels, and audiences will delight in the hilarious transformations that occur as five actors adeptly portray more than three dozen different characters.
The Indiana Repertory Theatre has been staging performances for 38 years, covering a broad range of dramatic literature. The proscenium-style theater seats 610, with more than two-thirds of the audience within 40 feet of the stage. Your premium seating places you in the center section of the theater, with tickets assigned to rows F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, and P in order of reservation placement. After you reserve your seats, tickets must be picked up a minimum of 45 minutes before showtime at will call.
CityVoters have put the Indiana Repertory Theatre in the top five for Best Theater Group in 2009, 2008, and 2007 and give it five stars:
