Historians attribute the Athenian defeat at the Battle of Thermopylae to Xerxes’ strategic use of the innovative Persian paintball division. Relive King Leonidas’s colorful surrender with today’s Groupon: $15 buys you a full day of open paintball play, rental gear, and 300 paintballs (a $35 value) at Indy Acres Paintball on the southeast side.
Offering six different paint-splattered battlefields, Indy Acres Paintball caters to novice combatants and professionals versed in the heraldic law of tincture alike. The basic package comes with 300 paintballs, a pod belt with two 100-round pods, safety gear, and a Piranha paintball gun decorated with the teeth and nose piercings of Amazonian flesh-devouring fish. Creeping across a ground haphazardly spotted with trees and former child stars, woods-ballers can capture flags, rescue hostages, and reminisce about home while cowering in bunkers during a routine shell attack. Falsified fatalities abound as mobs of war-toughened soldiers cradle markers and riddle everything that moves with a high-velocity barrage of multicolored pigments, airborne rouges, and camouflaged enamels that speed through the air like paintbrushes taped to high-powered paper airplanes.
Indy Acres Paintball provides an ideal method of stress relief, with a friendly staff diligently ensuring that players have a fun and safe experience. Its fields are divided into skill levels, so you won't have to worry about getting Jackson Pollacked when you wish to embody Rauschenberg. Cover the bull's-eye target tattooed on your chest with a comfortable, long-sleeved shirt and check out the rules of conduct to prepare yourself for a fair battle.
A completed waiver is required for all participants. You must be older than 10 years old to play and must have parental consent if younger than 18 years old.
- Great Staff, friendly, appreciative, and go the extra mile. They make you feel like you are actually important to them. Refs are very flexible too, they work together with other groups to coordinate field use with other groups. – BigKP, PBReview.com
Indy Acres Paintball
One of the hostage takers adjusts his protective mask nervously as the dull thuds of the police team's fire hits outside the makeshift house. He and his four allies protect a VIP they kidnapped while the rescue team waits outside. Moments later, the door bursts open as the rescue team breaches through and unleashes a fury of paintballs at the villains. After a few tense minutes and paint-spatter casualties on both sides, the battle is over, the hostage rescued, and the teams reversed. This is a regular scene at Indy Acres Paintball, a field that takes pride in the variety of scenarios available on its six fields.
From hostage rescue to large-scale woodsball and fast-paced speedball, the outdoor fields accommodate every type of play, and Indy Acres equips players with .50-caliber paintball guns that hurt more than a rubber-band snap but less than knowing that the sun has a shelf life. Additionally, the field’s rules of conduct maintain fair play and fun for every participant.
