Clients using prescription tretinoin (Retin-A), including 0.05% strength, must discontinue use 5-7 days prior to treatment and 5-7 days after treatment. Tretinoin increases skin sensitivity, and combining it too close to RF heat may increase the risk of irritation, burns, or pigmentation changes.
During this break period, clients should avoid:
Retinoids and retinol products
Chemical exfoliants (glycolic, salicylic, lactic acids)
Benzoyl peroxide
Physical exfoliation or scrubs
Clients are encouraged to focus on gentle cleansing, hydration, barrier-repair moisturizers, and daily use of broad-spectrum SPF.
