What You'll Get
An outspoken widow, who's been "rescuing" books from a soon-to-be-closed library, sets out to help a troubled teen start a new chapter in life after striking up an unlikely friendship with the feisty youngster in Spine, an Edinburgh Fringe Fest prize-winner. Now receiving its U.S. premiere at the Drake from Inis Nua Theatre Company -- the only American ensemble devoted to debuting new plays from the UK -- this dramedy by Clara Brennan takes a dim view of the spate of British library closings, while lauding the value of learning and cameraderie. Spine was dubbed "unexpectedly moving and bubbling with anger" by The Guardian and "a deeply humane celebration of community, tradition and the imagination" by The Scotsman.
There’ll be a pre-show discussion on Wednesday, February 24th and March 2nd, starting at 6:00pm.
