Very informative and really cool place to go. The kids and us liked it so much, I have already purchased tickets to go back on my granddaughters’s birthday in September. So much to see, and the staff is very friendly and well knowledgeable. Always ready to answer your questions. The train ride was fun. If you have a problem walking, be sure to take something with you. It’s a long walk to the train

Especially nice is the dining car. It is clean, well-restored, and has period music playing and motifs in the eating and kitchen areas of the car. 3 of the 4 cars outside are similarly done, but there is a general need for cleaning in all of the museum. There were dead flies in nearly every area we visited, including the children's train play area. Lots of junk shoved in every nook & cranny.

There are many exhibits to see. Even though it was cold, we rode the mini train. Would have been nicer if it was warmer, but still fun. The rail cars were great to see the past era when trains were the way of travel. One of the cars had a volunteer with running model trains. This seems to be a work in progress and will be interesting to see what it looks like in a few years.

About Inland Northwest Rail Museum

The story of Inland Northwest Rail Museum began in 1967 when a group or railroad enthusiasts formed a local chapter of the National Railway Historical Society with the goal of preserving the history of rail development in the Inland Northwest. After a few moves, the museum finally landed on 30-acre area near Reardan, 25-miles west of Spokane, Wash, as well as operating a 2-foot gauge train ride. and continues the work of its' predecessors by collecting and displaying artifacts as well as operating a narrow gauge rail.

  • Size: The 30 acres of land allow the museum to display over 30 different rail cars and engines as well as other railroad memorabilia.
  • Eye Catcher: The dining car featuring examples of interior settings from different train lines and eras.
  • Don't Miss: The charming Spokane street car.
  • Hands-On Experiences: A large part of the exhibits can be seen not only from the outside but also from the inside.
  • In The Building: Visitors can also find a large library and a fully-stocked souvenir shop.
