During spin classes, a seasoned instructor leads stationary-bike workouts that squash calories and stress. Powered by sturdy suspension straps, TRX classes help students build strength, flexibility, and core stability with customizable bodyweight exercises. Other classes range from yoga- and ballet-inspired CoreFit routines to Step-N-Fit classes, which lead guests in step aerobics and strength-training exercises. Each class is small, with a maximum of 14 students in spin sessions and 12 in all other sessions. See the schedule.
During personal-training sessions—available to children, teens, adults, and seniors of all fitness levels—experienced trainers motivate clients toward healthier lifestyles in one-on-one sessions. The trainer tailors each workout to the client's needs and performs a variety of assessments to determine physical limitations and measure progress toward goals.
At Intelligent Fitness, the personal trainers and exercise instructors take their clients' success seriously. Instead of barking at them to exercise more, they teach their charges to maximize their workouts' effectiveness, taking a personalized approach to instruction that helps clients achieve their goals—from losing weight to tearing a phonebook in half with one hand tied behind their backs. Phil Sottile, the studio's founder, pairs a friendly demeanor with 20 years of experience to coach, mentor, and motivate clients during personal-training sessions. Also helming group sweat sessions, the certified instructors lead classes such as the Ab Solutely workout, which pushes clients to strengthen their cores and spines, and indoor biking sessions, which melt calories and stress.
On Saturday mornings, clients can get a dose of motivation in their own living rooms, as the staff members dole out fitness tips on their own TV show on Hauppauge Cablevision.
