If life is just a bowl of cherries, then bowling is a life of launching 12-pound cherry-flavored gumballs. Marvel at the history of life's sweetest pastime with today's Groupon: for $9, you get two admissions (up to a $19 value) to the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame, located in Arlington. Children ages 3 and younger are admitted free to the museum.

One of Arlington’s top attractions according to TripAdvisor, the International Bowling Museum both preserves and displays a unique collection celebrating 5,000 years of bowling and pays tribute to the sport's legendary Hall of Famers. Tour the expansive exhibits, and learn about bowling’s inventors and early advocates, such as the ancient Egyptians and King Henry VIII, who notoriously tried to marry a pinsetter machine. The The Innovations exhibit teaches visitors about the sport’s evolution with life-size replicas of players, touch-screen kiosks, interactive games, and a functioning bowling lane. Alley aficionados can teleport over to The Future to see the museum’s fantastical vision of things to come, including computerized coaches and retinal scans to get nachos from the snack bar.

Ooh and aah while wandering through the Hall of Fame, which honors the meteoric careers of legendary pin pounders such as Gary Dickinson, Billy Hardwick, and Wayne Zahn with rare photographs and vintage film clips of bowlers past. Bowling buffs can commemorate the pedagogical pilgrimage by purchasing a keepsake keychain at the museum’s Spare Partz gift shop.

Customer Reviews

Interesting for bowlers who want to know more about the history of their sport.

I got this thinking I would take my kids this summer, we ended up going on a rainy day in September. My husband was hesitant to go at first, but once we got there - we had our socks BLOWN OFF!! It was one of the best done museums I've ever been to. Every exhibit was interactive and fun. Adults and kids learning very interesting stuff in a fun and creative way (an my kids are 8,6,4,2)! The highlight was at the end of the museum there was a little 2 lane bowling alley were we played a quick game before leaving. Really a HIDDEN GEM in Arlington near the ballpark and six flags! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
