A Chat with International Studio of Music
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition? Experienced group teacher. Good location, close to La Frontera. Successful studio, doing business for ten years. Students have won awards. Member of Bluebonnet Music Teachers Association. Effective teaching, enjoyable atmosphere in a group setting. Music enables people to express personal feelings.
Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring? I use Alfred's Adult course. This is a very reputable and effective course. It explains concepts clearly and briefly, the pages are uncluttered, and it provides exercises. It advances in a sequential step-by-step, easy to understand, and enabling format. The pieces are traditional, well known, delightful.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business? I love piano, and I love to teach. And friends asked me if I would teach them. I had studied Spanish Education at University of New Orleans, and I had nine years of piano study. I had been a legal secretary most of my life, and I had the discipline needed, so I started teaching piano to my friends.
What do you love most about your job? I love to enable students to express the feelings that they have in their souls, whether it be the most ecstatic joy or the deepest sadness, and all ranges in between those extremes. And to make them become disciplined and capable individuals who enjoy their music, and find a new way of expression.
