I had no idea that any of the whale watching tour companies would have a boat from Everett -- that was a major selling point. They did an excellent job of telling us about the whales and we watched several. The only negative comment is that the food on board is limited and the line is very long. I would recommend taking a tour with this company but I would also recommend bringing your own food & beverages to avoid spending a lot of time in line for something you could have brought in a thermos!

About Island Adventures Whale Watching

On a childhood fishing trip with his dad in the San Juan Islands, Shane Aggergaard noticed a group of orcas swimming toward his boat. Rather than steering clear of human contact, they swam directly under the boat—one even looked Shane right in the eye. It was a moment of whale-human connection he never forgot, and nowadays tries to approximate through Island Adventures. The whale-watching tour company, which Shane founded with his wife, Jennifer, brings passengers into close contact with the aquatic mammals of the Pacific Northwest.

Depending on the season, wilderness-savvy guides—who’ve led more than 6,000 collective wildlife tours during their careers—can introduce passengers to minke whales and the San Juan’s three resident orca pods, migrating gray whales, or humpbacks. The Island Explorer boats are not only the best-designed whale watch boats in the area, they are the best maintained. The Island Explorer 3, Island Explorer 4, and Island Explorer 5 feature full walk around lower decks, upper viewing decks, sound systems, heated cabins, galley service, his and her restrooms, and a professional crew.
