After brief instruction, twilight tour groups settle into kayaks and paddle across the Potomac River. Safety escorts keep a watchful eye over tours as kayaks circle Theodore Roosevelt Island and paddle toward Three Sisters Islands. Along the way, kayakers can snap photos of national monuments including the Lincoln Memorial and wildlife such as eagles en route to testify before Congress. Kayak, canoe, and paddleboard rentals enable paddlers to explore solo. Tours and rentals include safety vests and paddles.

Jack's Boathouse

Decorated in lights, a yellow kayak stands upright outside the entrance of Jack's Boathouse, welcoming customers into the nearly 70-year-old business. Countless visitors— including Travel Channel's Samantha Brown— have dog-paddled their way to the boat house over the decades and taken kayaks, canoes, and standup paddleboards on winding journey's through Washington, DC.

The Potomac River forms a tranquil waterway past some of the capital's most famous locations. Whether on tours or self-guided paddles, boats can capture views of the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and where the founding fathers played Marco Polo at Georgetown Harbor. As the sun sets, wildlife such as eagles and beavers join in on Jack's aquatic excursions.

Great experience, we were first-time customers and we will be back! Keep the specials running, the normal price is a little pricey for us normally :)
Megan K. · September 9, 2012
Great experience! The folks at the registration desk were pleasant and quick. The gentlemen down on the dock were also great. Looking forward to getting out again!
