What You'll Get
George Orwell famously wrote about winemaking, "If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stomping on a grape's face—forever." Have fun proving him right with today’s grape-smashing Groupon for Jacobs Wine Kits in Elmira. With more than 200 available varieties from around the world, Jacobs Wine Kits gives enthusiasts the chance to craft their own wine with a fun and easy process that creates wines worthy of picky palates, regularly at less than half the cost of store-bought bottles. Freelance fermenters will receive a Vineco kit that includes the same materials wineries use; your $99 can cover the cost of a California Connoisseur kit or go toward the cost of more expensive wines, such as the recommended Cheeky Monkey. After four to eight weeks of fermentation, amateur vintners bottle and label the fruits of their labours in-store before rolling their swaddled bottles home in an heirloom pram (customers can provide their own bottles or purchase a set for $30). Check out Vineco’s website for the full selection of viney varietals.

About Jacobs Wine Kits
An exclusive on-premises winemaking shop, Jacobs Wine Kits pairs its clients with the right supplies to craft their own wine in a matter of weeks. Expert winemaker Gerhard leads students through the process, which begins with sprinkling yeast on their choice of grape juice. Depending on its quality level, the wine takes four to six weeks to ferment and produce a finished product. When they return after this period, students spend about 45 minutes bottling their wine and applying corks, labels, and shrink caps. The results range from a refreshing Niagara Mist peach chardonnay to a bold Cheeky Monkey Australia syrah with notes of plums, blackberries, and currants.
