Executive chef Barbara Renfro crafts a menu packed with traditional Jamaican favorites such as oxtails, curry mutton, and jerk-seasoned shrimp and chicken, all of which caught the attention of Guy Fieri on the Food Network. For dinner, arm taste buds with a caribbean salad or the jerk salad, a caesar-styled mix piled with grilled jerk chicken, before testing flame-roaring ability with the entrees. The Rude Boy jerk chicken or shrimp sizzles tongues after being cooked over an open flame. The sautéed chicken breast is simmered in Red Stripe beer and coconut milk, helping diners fill the three daily dietary needs of meat, beer, and coconut. After-dinner sweetness comes in the form of jamaican rum cake, cheesecake with mango and strawberry sauce, or pineapple upside-down cake. Those who select the lunch option can lower their tongue drawbridge for the Gates curry chicken, sautéed and marinated in Jamaican spices and curry seasoning, or send golden brown-fried catfish (served with french fries or rice) on a swim into a rumbling tummy.

Jamaica Gates Caribbean Cuisine

Of all the island flavors in the menu at Jamaica Gates Caribbean Cuisine, there's one in particular that lures diners: authenticity. That's because each plate of Red Stripe chicken, Rude Boy jerk shrimp, and Brown Stew Fish comes from Executive Chef Barbara Renfro's personal recipe collection, which caught the attention of Guy Fieri on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Born and raised in Jamaica, Barbara spent many years preparing and amassing a variety of recipes that mix bold spices; sautéed vegetables; and slices of seared chicken, beef, and seafood. While the food draws diners into the restaurant, live music every Friday and Saturday night entices guests to stay and relax instead of rushing home to listen in on their neighbor's karaoke party.
