The festival takes place July 21 in Roy Wilkins Park from 12–8 p.m. As food vendors cook traditional Jamaican cuisine, including roast corn and jerk chicken, attendees view cooking demonstrations and listen to musical performances from artists including Shaggy. At the Kidz Zone, kids can take a break from the rest of the fest with a jump inside bounce houses or a dance around a maypole.
Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival
Every summer the Jamaican Jerk Festival creates an authentic slice of Jamaica within the continental United States. Reggae music plays, and the aromas of jerk chicken, pork, and fish dance in the warm air. Aptly named the Jamaican Jerk Festival, the celebration brings together food vendors, home cooks, and renowned chefs—who demonstrate how to make traditional Jamaican recipes.
Multiple stages serve up entertainment alongside this cuisine. International musicians play classic and modern music, and performance artists keep the art of Jamaican storytelling alive. Meanwhile, cooking competitions and celebrity cook offs invite attendees to become active participants in the celebration.
