Thanks to boats and other vessels, human beings can easily head to sea to spot whales, whereas in order to spot people, whales have to disguise themselves as rubbery park benches during people-watching tours. Seize your aquatic advantage with today's Groupon to Jamie's Whaling Station & Adventure Centres in Tofino and Ucluelet. Choose from the following options:

  • For $39, you get a children's ticket to a whale-watching or bear-watching tour (up to a $78 value) for children 4–12. Children younger than 3 are admitted for free.

  • For $49, you get an adult ticket to a whale-watching or bear-watching tour (up to a $108 value).

  • For $109, you get an adult combo pass (up to a $236 value), which includes:
    • Hot Springs Cove tour
    • Whale-watching or bear-watching tour

Whale-watching is at the Tofino location.

Jamie's Whaling Station & Adventure Centres has escorted passengers on aquatic whale- and bear-spotting journeys and sightseeing excursions through local springs for nearly three decades. Whale-watching tours traverse sheltered inlets and open ocean for two to three hours in search of gray whales, humpback whales, and transient orcas as knowledgeable crew members elucidate facts about each sighted breed, such as its habits and favourite scene in Moby Dick. Alternatively, two- to three-hour bear-watching tours navigate low tides to catch glimpses of black bears roaming shores in search of rock crabs. Six-hour Hot Springs Cove jaunts pilot patrons 26 nautical miles from the Tofino coast to observe the marine marvel and the tributes to Elvis it draws with its steam. While there, adventurers walk through the ancient rainforest and spend up to two hours soaking in the pools.

An extensive fleet boasting 65-foot vessels, a 45-foot covered zodiac, and 35-foot cabin cruiser transports customers within intimate ranges of the animals while still maintaining respectful distances. In addition to free parking, Jamie's Whaling Station also supplies complimentary dog kennels, walks, and conversation about why cats are nothing but trouble for canine companions while their human pals explore the ocean.

Jamie's Whaling Station - Tofino & Ucluelet

It's unclear why whales jump and splash on the surface of the ocean. It could be to get attention from potential mates, or a way to lose the parasites on their backs. But it is also possible that the whales are simply having fun. From the vantage point of a 65-foot cruiser or an open zodiac-style whale-watching vessel, guests of Jamie's Whaling Station can observe grey and humpback whales in their natural environment, while forming their own hypotheses about their mystifying behaviour.

In addition to whale-watching trips, Jamie's leads bear-watching tours, tours to Hot Springs Cove, kayaking adventures, group hiking, water taxi trips to hiking trails, cultural canoe tours, and sunset cruises to find out where the sun really goes at night. A portion of proceeds from all tours supports local wildlife research and rescue programs. At Hot Springs Cove, hikers can look forward to hot pools among the rocks to relax in while looking over the ocean.
