A neon sign in the front window of Jay's Beef draws people in with one simple message: Vienna Beef Hot Dogs. This Chicago favorite is just one of the items on the menu at Jay's, which has been feeding ravenous locals since 1976. Of course, their specialty is the italian beef sandwich, loaded with slow-roasted beef and homemade gravy made from a third-generation family recipe. Giardiniera—also homemade, of course—adds that signature Chi-Town heat. It's all sandwiched in crusty Gonnella rolls, the smell of which whets diners appetites as soon as they step into the restaurant.
