Eight-time Grammy nominee Fred Hersch arrives at the elegant Appel Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center for an evening of solos and duets with a multigenerational ensemble of world-class players. Hersch was actually the first artist in the 75-year history of New York's legendary Village Vanguard to play weeklong engagements as a solo pianist, and he's been praised by The New York Times Magazine as "singular among the trailblazers of their art, a largely unsung innovator of this borderless, individualistic jazz -- a jazz for the 21st century." Now, he takes the stage with clarinetist Anat Cohen and guitarist Julian Lage, with an opening set by Sullivan Fortner -- Hersch's protégé and winner of the 2015 Cole Porter Fellowship -- in both solo and duet performances with vibraphonist Stefon Harris.
