While declaring him “the new kid on the block,” the Chicago Sun Times placed Pete Jensen in the same league as icons such as David Copperfield, Penn & Teller, and Lance Burton. That’s no small feat for any magician, but Pete Jensen earns that accolade as he sweeps everyone—including the most hardened skeptics—into his spell. Even the New York Times, known for hiding digs at magicians in their crosswords, raved that Jensen “takes a subtle and sophisticated approach to the art of combining equal parts magic, comedy and theater with audience participation….a recipe for pure entertainment.”
Wearing his influences on his no-cards-up-there sleeve, Pete’s acts pays homage to magic’s biggest heroes with tricks that would have Houdini scratching his head. His dapper appearance and aristocratic persona aids his mischievous feats, deftly accomplished while backed by a jazzy soundtrack. Magic fans expecting rabbits in hats or pull-away thumbs may gulp and gasp at Jensen’s arsenal of set pieces, which often involve an escape from the menacing “Table of Death” or the threat of perforation by spikes. Whether he’s treating an intimate audience to his trickery, or bowling over the masses at Caesar’s Palace in Vegas, Jensen’s shows are always filled with a theatrical flair reminiscent of Andrew Lloyd Webber escaping a straight-jacket.
“Magician was great! Very funny and entrrtaining. The space for the show was very small and tight.”
