The event runs from 12-7 p.m. on Saturday and 12–5 p.m. on Sunday, and features wines from six New Jersey wineries, a wings competition, and live music. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own chairs to sit and enjoy the festivities. Designated drivers and guests under 21 are admitted for $10; children under 6 enter free.<p>

Cava Winery & Vineyard

For Anthony Riccio, owner of Cava Winery & Vineyard, winemaking is in his blood. The former farmhand took a trip to the Tuscan countryside, where he watched workers harvest, press, and ferment grapes by hand. Inspired by their craftsmanship, and eager to pay tribute to his heritage, Riccio carefully packed the art of Italian winemaking in his suitcase and brought it back to his home in Morris County.<p> The old-world process proved perfectly suited to its new-world environment. The New Jersey soil sports a mineral content ideal for grape growing, and the resulting wines bear the aromatic mark of their idyllic origins. Their unique properties haven’t gone unnoticed—Cava’s D’oro red blend medaled at the San Francisco Chronicle’s wine competition, thanks to its touches of blackberry, cherry and currant; so did the Ferro, a hearty red ideally paired with spiced meat or a barbecue swallowed whole. Should palates prove curious about the carefully composed bottles, weekend wine tastings pour samples for passersby.

It was a great festival. Would have liked to see a few more vinyards there but for a first time they did a great job, loved the cows!
