Dancing is a healthy way to physically connect to someone, preferable to giving them a painful bear hug or sewing your head onto their body. Get cheek-to-cheek with today’s Groupon to JitterSwing Dance Clubs. Choose between the following options:
- For $25, you get three 30-minute private dance lessons or six one-hour group dance lessons for adults (up to a $60 value). Private lessons can be used for the following dance styles: social/imperial swing, West Coast swing, country two-step, stationary cha-cha, river waltz, nightclub two-step, or line dancing.
- For $99, you get a dance party for up to 25 people (a $225 value). <p>
Students at JitterSwing twist and turn through the steps of the cha-cha, West Coast swing, line dances, and other ballroom-dance styles. During 30-minute private classes, singles or couples can practice the hip swiveling of the stationary cha-cha or strut through the country two-step. Group lessons last for an hour and conclude with a two- to three-hour practice party, where dancers can show off their newly acquired skills or crack open the clusters of walnuts they’ve spilled all over the floor. Check the home page for regular lesson times; lessons take place at Concord Hall in Concord, the Make Believe Theatre and Arts Centre in St. Charles, or the Wright City Parks and Recreation Center.
Up to 25 revelers can boogie during dance parties, which begin with a one-hour group lesson at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays or Fridays. A DJ then punches in to kick out jams, which partiers groove to for 2.5–3 hours. Beginning at 5 p.m. and continuing throughout the night, a cash bar slings mixed drinks or snow globes filled with maraschino cherries.
JitterSwing Dance Clubs
The team at JitterSwing Dance Clubs constantly assures their clients that “JitterSwing is our name ... it is not a Dance.” Thanks to film and music videos, swing dance conjures images of acrobatics and leaping bodies, but JitterSwing’s instructors are popular for their approachable St. Louis Imperial style, which is slower-paced and accessible to students of any age. They lead couples and singles through group and private sessions that cover many other types of swing dance as well as country two-step, the cha-cha, and the river waltz. Partners preparing for a wedding dance can take advantage of private lessons, and youths aged 10–16 are invited to the juniors program. In addition to the multiple locations where instructors conduct their sessions, JitterSwing staff members also come out to private events to instruct guests of all ages.
