Joe's Pasty Shop
Pasties—pastry pies stuffed with meat and potatoes—originate from Cornwall and Wales, where local miners have eaten them for lunch for hundreds of years. Miners have always savored the hearty filling that would stay warm throughout the day and tossed the braided pastry crust, which served as a handle for sooty fingers. When those miners traveled the globe, they brought pasties with them to as far flung locations at Australia, Spain, and Butte, Montana.
Today, Joe's Pasty Shop sells pasties stuffed with flank steak, potatoes, and onions with a savory seasoning. The shop's pasties are so good, in fact, that they were highlighted as a go-to meal on the Travel Channel. Try one original style or with a helping of chili, cheese, and onions poured on top. You can also stop by for a selection of sandwiches including ham and swiss, tuna melts, and cheeseburgers.
