What You'll Get

The most common Internet password is “pizza123,” demonstrating America’s love for this Italian delight, as well as its complete inability to protect sensitive information. Log into your hunger with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of that infamous edible wheel, as well as pasta, calzones, and more, from Joe's Place Pizza and Pasta in Arlington.

The menu offers specialty pies, subs, pastas, calzones, and other Italian delights. A large house pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, black olives, and sausage costs $19.75, and a rectangular battleship of Sicilian-style glory slathered in meaty Bolognese sauce and thick slabs of fresh mozzarella is $22.95. Send hunger to the bottom of the sea with a foot-long Italian hoagie torpedo, exploding with salami, prosciutto, capicollo, provolone, and a mess of lettuce and tomato ($8.45). Or wrestle wily toppings with a calzone headlock of ham, ricotta, and mozzarella ($9.95).

Joe is a man who believes in the land of opportunity. In 1970, he floated across the Atlantic from Italy on a boat with oars made of rolled-up pepperoni and started flipping sumptuous pizzas in the States. He gave his restaurant the thin-crusted, chewy freedom of the New York–style slice and taught it never to dishonor his family with soggy sauce or bland, pale toppings. Men who love their families and who care about the bonds of friendship turn to their wives and say, "To do justice to our hunger, we must go to Don Joe."

  • We've been eating at Joe's for years and haven't found a better place for pizza. Their House Pizza is to die for. Their Italian entrees are also excellent, and the portions are good, making them a good value. Delivery and takeout have been excellent. – Hendaj, TripAdvisor
  • An Arlington institution. I grew up with it and, even as an adult, my childhood friends and I still gather for dinners here. We love the pizza, ziti, and calzones. – Ann-Ella P., Yelp, 6/18/10

About Joe's Place Pizza & Pasta

Joe set sail from Agrigento, Italy with his family in 1970 to land in New York, eventually leaving for Virginia to seek his version of the American dream and opening Joe’s Place. The eatery has been family-run for 34 years, which is long enough to see the art of fashion transform countless times and the art of reading a book stay suspiciously the same. Ovens spill out piles of crispy, thin-crust pizzas adorned with fresh toppings and cheeses—such as the white pizza with fontina and garlic and the seafood pizza with fresh shrimp and clams—and thick layers of dough support sicilian deep-dish pies. Cooks prepare pots of steaming pastas and build specialty subs with stacks of prosciutto, provolone, and capicollo. Members of Joe’s family work in both his restaurants, keeping the authentic Italian recipes in constant use, like the sun, a small percentage of which is also pasta sauce.
