Commonly Asked Questions

Q:

I'm confused, if they are all the same price/value, why would anyone want one that expires sooner than the rest?

Kelly B.  asked on  May 14, 2013

A:

You would not want one that expires earlier...so the earlier you make the decision to buy one, the later your expiration date can be. We offer earlier expiration dates so there is a more even redemption. This helps us avoid a big rush right at the end and allows us to take care of more guests, because they are more evenly spread out across the promotional period. But again the earlier you decide to buy a certificate the more options you will have. Hoipe this helps. We look forward to serving you soon.

Q:

can I order anything from the dinner menu for the value and not just steak? also to clarify, the dinner value includes wine?

sarita p.  asked on  May 15, 2013

A:

You can order anything you want from the dinner menu as long as you are in the dining room. The promotional value is good for wine or other beverages as well. The Groupon is not good for Lunch, Happy Hour or in the Bar.

Q:

If I purchase the deal today can I use in on Wednesday 22 May? Would be buying for a birthday dinner and if I can't use it that night I don't want to buy it.

Lisa H.  asked on  May 16, 2013

A:

Yes...it can be used on May 22nd. The only date that you can't use the Groupon is June 16th, 2013 Fathers Day. Otherwise you can use the Groupon for its full promotional value any day before the expiration date.

Q:

The groupon states 1 per person, but from a comment above you can apply the $60 to a bill for 2 people dining, correct? So the 1/person means you can only buy 1, but you can use it for the entire check, regardless of party size? Also I just wanted to comment that limiting 1/table might be discouraging some people, since they like to travel in packs...perhaps next offer you can limit one per couple, but allow two couples to both use a coupon, etc.

Breanne Q.  asked on  May 16, 2013

A:

You can have as many people in your party as you wish. The limit that you are asking about is on the purchase. You may only purchase one per person. We have this limit so the Groupon's will go out to more people, rather then the same people over and over again, this helps expose more people to John Howie Steak. The reason we only allow one to be redeemed per table is that...this is a very generous discount, especially for John Howie Steak a Prime/Wagyu Steak House, which runs higher food cost than any other restaurant, so we can't afford to offer more than one discount per table. Thank you for your suggestions we will take them under consideration for future offers.

Q:

Does it have to be used just on steak? It also talks about the dinner menu. Can it be used on anything else?

phyllis m.  asked on  May 15, 2013

A:

You may order anything your heart desires from the Dinner menu. The Groupon is not good for lunch, happy hour, in the bar, or for Steaks To Go, or take out orders.

Q:

The Groupon says 1 per table - so does that mean that if we came with a group of 6, even if each couple had their own groupon, we could only apply 1 total as a group?

julius c.  asked on  May 15, 2013

A:

Yes that is correct...a group of six would only be able to use one Groupon.

Q:

Can I combine the groupon with a gift certificate?

Debi R.  asked on  May 15, 2013

A:

If you have a gift certificate or gift card they can be combined with the Groupon. You can't use them with any promotional certificates, such as a marketing card good for a free appetizer, soup, salad or dessert.

Q:

Am I correct in assuming you don't have to purchase wine?

Jean S.  asked on  May 14, 2013

A:

You are correct, you can purchase wine if you like. But there is no requirement to do so. The Groupon is good for both food and beverage, but there are no requirements to purchase both. Thank you for your question.
