What You'll Get
Horses embody the highest ideals of mankind, from their noble gait to their rippling muscles and their borderline-obsessive fascination with oats. Study equine ideals with today’s Groupon: for $45, you get three one-hour private riding lessons at Johnson Horse Solutions in Eureka (a $90 value).
Internationally certified by the British Horse Society, equine educator Christina Audrey Johnson instructs aspiring cowguys and gals of all ages in the joys and subtleties of horse riding, emphasizing the relationship between rider and steed. Students can earn their English riding spurs in a spacious indoor arena or let the wind tease their 10-gallon hats with western-style lessons in a bucolic pasture. Forming a bond with one of the stable's carefully selected, fully trained horses can teach children empathy, confidence, respect for nature, and the persuasive value of an unpeeled carrot.
Over the three sessions, equestrians age 3 and older benefit from personalized instruction, foster a budding bond with their mount, and develop fundamental trotting chops. Helmets are provided, though students must supply their own boots and Roman chariots.

About Johnson Horse Riding School
BHS-certified instructor Christina Johnson has spent more than four decades as an instructor, rider, and horse trainer—experience she draws on to broker connections between horses and humans at Johnson Horse Riding School. Johnson specializes in instruction for beginners and children as young as age 3, with a stable of practice horses as gentle as a declawed cookie monster. The school’s lessons cover Western or English styles of riding or impart tips for proper grooming, feeding, and management. Guided trail rides lead equestrians through nearby wilderness, and birthday parties and camps encourage youngsters to engage with the great outdoors. They also host special events like the 2nd annual Christmas camp where students can see Santa, get gifts, go for a ride, and learn a little about horse management.
