Before Play-Doh, people used clay to construct houses, solidify dams, and supplement preschool dietary needs. Rediscover nature's greatest malleable material with today's Groupon to Jorgenson Pottery in St. Joseph. Choose between the following options:
- For $82, you get a six-week Beginning Throwing introductory pottery class and clay (a $165 value).
- For $100, you get a two-day wood-fired-bread-and-pizza-oven workshop (a $200 value).
Jorgenson Pottery’s skilled staff imbues people with the tools and skills to fire clay into functional and artistic creations and to bake classic, wood-fired edibles. The six-week Beginning Throwing introductory pottery classes meet once a week to teach new potters to spin and mold clay without the aide of invisible companions. Classes include 25 pounds of clay and glazing material that students will shape and solidify in a wood-fired kiln. The wood-fired-bread-and-pizza-oven workshop, which meets twice total on back-to-back days, creates edible art in a classic cooker. On the first day, participants will construct a small oven, and on the second, they will use that oven to bake pizza and warm up pet rocks while discussing the making of pizza tools. A full list of class times can be found on Jorgenson Pottery's website. Online registration for these classes is required beginning May 23.
Crafts come to life in Jorgenson Pottery’s rustic straw bail studio nestled in the shade of nearby trees. Inside, potters will find clay-caked tables, a large hand-constructed kiln, and everything they need to take their creations from conception to reality to easily-transported hologram.
