I will miss them . They have closed this location . The food was always great .
  • Authentic Mexican fare
  • Acclaimed chile rellenos dish
  • Vibrant décor

A tortilla makes a handy mouse pad, an acceptable patch for stiff denim jeans, and, if you draw a face on it, an ideal companion on fishing trips. But there are many other uses for it, as today's Groupon proves: for $15, you get $30 worth of Mexican fare at José's Mexican Restaurant in Cambridge.

José's menu lets you authentically tour Mexico without having to untether your winged burro from its cage in your attic. José's homemade jalapeño poppers ($5.95) appetizer heaves a heaping helping of heat on the tongue, and entrees run the gastronomic gamut of Mexican fare, including the chicken enchilada with a mole negro of chiles, spices, tortillas, and chocolate ($10.95), and the bursting-with-beef Super Burrito ($10.95), also stuffed with beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, and salsa. Doña Reyna's Chile Rellenos—poblano peppers stuffed with your choice of cheese ($9.95), chicken ($10.95), shredded or ground beef ($11.95), steak ($12.95), or shrimp ($13.95)—are the house specialty, crafted from the chef's mother's recipe and containing valuable life advice in each bite. José's non-Mexican fare also hits the toro's-eye, with the barbecue shrimp ($14.95) sure to satisfy sailors on shore leave after long voyages on barbecue seas.

Un Groupon can be used for every dos personas, so treat a first date or mysterious drifter to the rustically vibrant Mexican art of José's bright, colorful décor, as well as its friendly staff of comida couriers, with today's Groupon.

About Jose's Mexican Restaurant

Jose's Mexican Restaurant is truly a family operation. At any given time, you might find mom in the kitchen making tamales; dad taking inventory; or brothers and cousins greeting visitors and waiting tables. That unshakeable familial structure stems from the restaurant's Mexican roots—roots that also instilled Jose's chefs with an appreciation for fresh, local ingredients and time-honored cooking traditions. Guests reap the benefits of Jose's solidarity while sipping on margaritas and biting into classic dishes, such as the tamales del dia, featuring a pair of tamales steamed in corn husks and packed with different fillings each day.

It deserves WAY more stars! I'm really sad that it's closing at the end of the month, they actually have an entire vegan menu items- beyond the typical rice and beans!

I like the decor, it makes me like feel being in my grandma's dining room when I used to visite her when I was little. It took forever for the food to be served, but I enjoyed it.
