Before bread, sandwiches were haphazardly supported by two hands high-fiving. Chew on a phalange-free lunch with today's Groupon: for $7, you get $15 worth of deli fare at Julian's Gourmet Sandwiches. Julian’s is open from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday–Saturday.
Julian’s owner and chef Joshua Talley preps each of the menu’s hearty sandwiches in-house with hormone- and preservative-free meats. On the pan perdu sandwich, noble salami and capicola duel for the rights to coveted swiss cheese territory until their sourdough arena is dipped in french-toast batter and grilled, forging a crispy truce ($5.00 for a half; $8.95 for a whole). Alternately, tidbits of granny-smith apple speckle tuna salad on the light, fluffy crust of the tuna croissant ($4.00 for a half; $7.50 for a whole). Veggie-friendly chompers can frolic through the spinach and romaine forests of the mixed green salad ($5.95), while eyes can scan Julian’s Facebook wall for soup and sandwich specials that, like overachieving glaciers, shift daily.
