Golf obstacles parallel life challenges and reinforce conventional wisdom that the only way to escape rough patches is through excessive clubbing. Power through impediments with today’s Groupon: for $24, you get a discount golf card to 20 area golf courses from Junior Achievement (a $49.95 value). The discount card includes the following:

An organization dedicated to teaching students the ABCs of business and economics, Junior Achievement’s devoted staff and trained volunteers reach out to Lincoln’s youth with the aid of revenue generated from a yearlong discount golf card. By clutching the putting voucher, golfers take advantage of half-off green fees at 20 area golf courses, including Yankee Hill, West Nine at Firethorn, and HiMark. Most facilities acknowledge the cards for unlimited rounds Monday–Friday, but a few limit play to one round on specific days or allow infinite rounds if using a time machine. Select clubs such as Hidden Valley, Hilltop Country Club, and College Heights Country Club apply card discounts to cart fees as well. Ball busters can stock up on equipment with a 10% discount on all in-stock merchandise at Austad’s Golf or enjoy tasty fare while discussing the eternal panache of plaid with discounts at area restaurants.

Proceeds from card sales benefit Junior Achievement’s programs designed to impart basic business savvy such as how to balance a checkbook, how to manage a credit card, and more. During its 40-year history, more than 161,000 young people have worked with more than 600 volunteers.

A national non-profit funded entirely by the private sector, the enterprise grants students access to modern educational materials and computer software as a real-world oriented supplement to the standard school curriculum. Each year, the Lincoln chapter’s team of more than 900 volunteers shows 25,000 area elementary, middle and high school students the ropes of the free enterprise economy, covering topics such as how to earn and spend money, how to start a business, and how to make change by cutting bills in half.
