$19 for One Entry to the Miami Spring Tennis Tournament

Running from April 1st until May 31st, the Miami Spring Tournament pits tennis enthusiasts of both genders and comparable skill levels against one another for amateur action reminiscent of a professional Grand Slam tournament. For one entrance fee, players sign up to compete in up to three divisions—singles, doubles, and mixed doubles—and schedule their games against net-minding nemeses whenever and wherever is convenient for both players, so long as it's prior to the set deadline. Every entrant begins by competing in a four-game Qualifying Round, to be completed sometime during a 30-day period. The two players with the best records in each division move on to the single-elimination Main Draw, where the last player or team standing will be named champion.

Just Play Tennis

Twice each year, Just Play Tennis organizes two-month tennis tournaments that recreate the intensity and competition of a professional Grand Slam tournament on an amateur scale. Opponents are paired based on skill level, and schedule their matches whenever and wherever it happens to be convenient, be it a public court across town or the wings of an old-timey biplane. Each tournament begins with a Qualifying Round, in which players have 30 days to complete four games, before the holders of the top two records move on to the Main Draw. Once each match has been played out, players enter their final scores on the website and watch the brackets populate with the victors, until just one player or doubles team is left to be crowned champion.

When registering, players should give an honest assessment of their skill level, from beginning novices to advanced baseline bashers. Each player then gets matched up with players of comparable skill levels for competition in up to three divisions: the singles tournament, the doubles tournament, and the mixed-doubles tournament.
