The greatest fence builders are frequently the best fencers as well. Today's side deal will turn you into the latter with eight hours of introductory fencing instruction from Kansas City Fencing Center in Overland Park for $25, a $75 value. Join the ranks of certified sword-brandishers for your choice of eight one-hour or four two-hour fencing classes that supply all necessary equipment and will teach you the proper way to use your feet, your blade, and your three-dimensional sense of proportionality for jubilant jabbing. Kansas City Fencing Center offers adult classes (14 years old and up) and youth classes (7–13 years old).
The Kansas City Fencing Center is a member of the United States Fencing Association and is a not-for-profit organization that aims to bring the vigilance of precision swashbuckling and the grace of defensive posturing to foil-bearers of all experience levels. The basic skills you acquire and sharpen during your introductory training will prepare you for strategic bouting with all bullies and naysayers who insist your milk money belongs to them.
Kansas City Fencing Center
A member of the United States Fencing Association, Kansas City Fencing Center was thrust into existence in 1992 under the direction of Vladimir Nazlymov—a fencing champion from Russia. When Vladimir left for a head-coaching job at Ohio State University in 1999, he appointed Kelly Williams as his successor, a move that has helped the KCFC become an elite facility. Certified to coach all three of the sport’s divisions—foil, épée, and watermelon slicing—Kelly and her staff have continued to produce nationally ranked fencers since their inauguration. Today, they share their expertise during introductory classes for both kids ages 7–13 and adults 14 and up, as well as advanced programs for students looking to take their skills to the next level.
