Karma is not your average Italian restaurant. Catering equally to hungry families, avid sports fans, and late-night revelers, the Nyack spot is more like three eateries than one. Here's the scoop on each of its delicious identities.
Chefs at Karma take their food seriously: every dish on the menu is made to order and inspired by classic Italian dishes. A critic at The Rockland Times praised the chicken parmesan as "tender and coated perfectly in delicious marinara sauce"; other comfort-food options range from baked ziti to clam linguine. A kids' menu keeps tiny mouths full of ravioli, chicken tenders, and other child-friendly eats.
In the bar and lounge, 20 plasma televisions come to life with play-by-play action of the day's top sports games. As they cheer for their team or write constructively critical Tweets about their rivals, guests can nosh on selections from the menu or sip bottle and tap beers, from Bell's Two Hearted to Unibroue Fin du Monde.
With its clean lines and black-on-red decor, the lounge at Karma is "more dressed-up and hip than the other bars along Main Street in Nyack," according to The Journal News. Live music fills the space on weeknights, and after 11 p.m., DJ sets beckon patrons to the dance floor. Guests can also clink glasses upstairs in the VIP lounge.
