- $25 for $40 worth of sushi and ramen for carry-out
It's easy to mistake Katanaya for an old-fashioned ramen shop on the streets of Tokyo—or it would be, if it weren't for the florescent neons and oversized Christmas lights. One glance at the menu, however, brings diners straight to bustling shops of Shinjuku. The filling, goodie-packed specialty soups arrive tableside topped with barbecue pork, plump gyoza, thin-sliced roast beef, or fried chicken—also called karaage. Vegetarian options include all-greens or spicy tofu. No matter the order, each bite goes down smoother with fine hot sake from Ozeki, tall drafts of Sapporo, and earthy shochu by the glass or bottle.
