Everyone was so friendly and helpful! They explained the route super well. 😊 I would inquire about the tides before going again. Paddling back was more difficult than I expected.

Staff was very helpful, and the views were amazing. I would definitely call ahead and check the tide to plan your day accordingly. We went at low tide and it was very very shallow and some parts challenging to navigate. Still had a blast figuring it out, but if you’re inexperienced planning according to tide would suit you best!

It looks to be a family-owned business. The kayak we rented was quite heavy and we were expected to carry it down a ramp and over a railing to get to the flat ramp to put in the water, as well as carry it back up the ramp and over the railing. The staff was nice but could use someone that can oversee the people getting in and out of the water. I am 65 and after 5 hours of kayaking, I was not able to pick up the kayak up to my face height. We brought two bags of trash back and did get a sticker!

We biked and then kayaked with Kayak Amelia. The employee was absolutely a Godsend. Their prices are fair and they are more than patient with beginneresque questions. It was worth every single penny! We will definitely return to Kayak Amelia

About Kayak Amelia

With help from a staff of paddleboarders, kayakers, environmental scientists, and a dog named Bayleigh & Duncan, Kayak Amelia founders Jody and Ray Hetchka combine their love for outdoor sports with environmental conservation. Ray, a certified naturalist and self-described tree hugger, peppers guided kayak, bicycle, and paddleboard eco tours with facts on flora, fauna, and all the best smells circulating throughout the island's delicate ecosystem. In addition to guided tours, Kayak Amelia teaches paddleboard and kayak lessons, and leads fishing trips and overnight kayak excursions. Guests can sign up for tours, or rent equipment for the day, at Kayak Amelia's storefront, Kayak Amelia Outpost, which carries eco-friendly gifts such as beeswax candles, carved bone necklaces, and clay-dyed clothing.
