Catch the famed Navy Pier fireworks show from the best seat in the house -- the cockpit of your own kayak. Kayak Chicago offers this fun (and only slightly wet) three-hour paddle down the river from North Avenue, where you'll enjoy the twinkling lights of the Loop and bask in the magnificent rockets' red glare. And don't worry if you've never kayaked before: All group tours are preceded by a brief orientation and training session. Some athletic ability is recommended, though, for this six-mile trip.
The fireworks paddle only runs through September 5.
Wednesday & Friday tours are from 7:15pm-10:45pm.
Saturday tours are from 8:00pm-11:30pm.
Come prepared to get a little wet from the drip of your paddle and be out in the sun. Dress for the weather. Lightweight, synthetic clothing is best. Sunglasses, sunblock and a hat. You can bring cameras, but they do have the possibility of getting wet, so bring a waterproof bag.
Fluids and snacks are permitted on the kayaks, and are recommended to avoid the chance of heat exhaustion. Most Kayak Chicago locations sell water and power bars.
