Q:

If you sign up for Monday classes but cant make it one week, can you go to a Tuesday or Wednesday class to make up for it?

Alexandra A.  asked on  Dec 17, 2013

A:

Sorry, but you can't make up a class like that. However, you can probably just make up in the fifth week. Check with your instructor.

Q:

I was thinking about buying for my roommate and I to do together, but our schedules are so busy with work and extracurricular activities, if we were to sign up for Monday night adult classes but couldn't make it one week, could we go to the Tuesday night class that week? Also... you say adult beverages are allowed? I think this might be the best Christmas gift ever!!

Alexandra A.  asked on  Dec 17, 2013

A:

You must attend on the class time that you sign up for. So if you are on the Monday evening class you can't attend the Tuesday evening. Especially since there is a strong probability that most of the classes will be full during the groupon. If you know you won't be able to attend a class you can probably just attend one more week to make up. Something to discuss with instructor.

Q:

my daughter is 13, can i buy her an adult wheel throwing course to do with me? secondly, do you have a course schedule so that i can determine if we can fit this into her very busy schedule of sports, etc.

Laura B.  asked on  Dec 13, 2013

A:

You certainly may do that. Just so you know, some of our adult students and a few of our instructors enjoy an adult beverage during class. In moderation, of course. It's not a fraternity party. The Groupon class schedule is on our website kcclayguild.org. Go to the "learn" tab then click on "Groupon".

Q:

What day/time are the parent child or adult if applicable classes offered. My son is 13. Can he go to the adult class or is he part of the parent child class?

Lauri &.  asked on  Dec 11, 2013

A:

7th/8th Grade? He could probably do our adult classes. A word of caution though, some of our adult students and a couple of our instructors enjoy an adult beverage during class... in moderation, of course. It's not a fraternity party. The Groupon class schedule is on our website kcclayguild.org . Go to the "learn" tab, then click on Groupon.

Q:

For a beginner, which class would you suggest - hand-building or wheel throwing? Also, what are the class time choices for the four week classes? Do we have to go on the same day each week? Thank you

Janice P.  asked on  Dec 14, 2013

A:

Although you can take the wheel-throwing class, Since it's available this time around I highly recommend taking the hand-building class. Especially if you think you may pursue clay for a while.

Q:

Which class do you recommend for a motivated and talented NEWBIE?

Anke H.  asked on  Dec 15, 2013

A:

Everyone wants to throw, it's cool and flashy. But if you're planning on staying with us for a while - months, years (There is a woman who has been in my class for over 11 years), I would really recommend getting the experience of the adult hand-building class.

Q:

if i purchase this today, do i choose when i want to start the class as long as it is prior to expiration date?

Rose L.  asked on  Dec 13, 2013

A:

Our redemption window is January 15, 2014 to May 1, 2014. As long as you are on a roster before May 1 you're fine. You don't have to make any decisions immediately other than whether to buy or not.

Q:

What is the difference between hand building and wheel throwing?

Katherine F.  asked on  Dec 13, 2013

A:

The wheel-throwing class uses the potters' wheel as the primary forming method. In the hand-building class people will learn several techniques to form pots or, possibly, sculptural pieces with slabs of clay or coils, etc.,...

Q:

Which of the classes for one adult who has never taken a pottery class take? The hand or pottery wheel???

Martha A.  asked on  Dec 11, 2013

A:

I would recommend the Hand-building class as you will have more success right from the start, but some people just want to throw. Throwing can take a while to get the hang of.
