St. Pat’s Scavenger Crawl
Keeping your eyes peeled is a crucial part of the St. Pat’s Scavenger Crawl. Over the course of one activity-packed afternoon, teams visit a series of local pubs, including Tower Tavern, Barrel 31, The Drop, and SOL Cantina, in order to search for scavenger-hunt items while sipping drinks.
Teams must complete a list of challenges that includes taking a group photo with a pint of Irish beer and recording a video of someone dancing a jig. As an added bonus, each bar will contain a hidden pot of gold groups must find and photograph. Teams who locate a pot of gold receive a free pitcher of beer. The afternoon’s overall winning team will also earn a $500 cash prize.
It’s hard to make new friends in a park; but, thanks to KC Crew, friendships have been blossoming all over Roanoke Park, One Park Place, and Penn Valley Park. The secret to their success is rec leagues, in which players compete in softball, tennis, and sand volleyball, a beachy sport far preferable to speed eating shells. The organization provides umpires, a game schedule, and a $100 credit at a local bar awarded to the winning team. And after the sun goes down, the organization offers more in-depth studies of the area nightlife through bar crawls, themed to celebrate holidays such as St. Patrick’s Day or simulate a zombie apocalypse.
