What You'll Get
Statistically, home is the place you're most likely to fall asleep under a running lawn mower or spontaneously combust while trying to slow dance with a running lawn mower. Find a safe haven with today's Groupon: for $55, you get a one-night stay including breakfast at the Keller House Bed and Breakfast in Centre Hall (up to a $110 value).
Built in 1887, the Keller House enthralls visitors with turn-of-the-century architecture and décor, restored by owners Ernie and Kathy Mowery. Guests can close their eyes and count leaping tax attorneys in one of three themed rooms such as the soothing Waterfall room, whose prime location is within earshot of a cascading waterfall. Inside the cheery Charlotte room, a four-post queen size bed nestles between decorative vintage clothing and Amish prints. Patrons sleep easy on one of two twin canopy beds in The General's Hideaway, a Civil War–themed room equipped with a Stonewall Jackson lookalike who gently rouses guests in the event of secession. Tastefully decorated with antique Victorian sofas and a working victrola, the common area captures a bygone era's elegance, and visitors can while away a day in the lush garden area.
In the morning, guests gorge on Ernie's delectable dishes such as sausage peach-puff pancakes, belgian waffles with fresh strawberries, or a special breakfast casserole, coupled with complimentary beverages. Outside the historic walls of the Keller House, attractions stand ready to entertain eager adventurers with sites such as historic Bellefonte, the Penn's Cave all-water cavern and wildlife park, and quaint Boalsburg, home of the nation’s first Casual Friday.
