Athletes aged 6–12 learn technical and tactical skills at soccer summer camps, taught by current and former professional soccer players from 9 a.m. to noon. Campers are divvied up by age and ability and spend the day rotating among coaches and learning different skills such as passing, juggling, and shooting at garden gnomes blocking the goal. Kids interested in goalkeeping receive three solid hours of specialized instruction. Each day concludes with a scrimmage where athletes sharpen their new skills, and at camp’s end the instructors evaluate players and determine their strengths and weaknesses. Attendees should bring cleats, soccer socks, a water bottle, snack, and sunscreen, and each will receive a KGS Academy T-shirt. Camps include prizes and giveaways from the academy itself as well as sports juggernaut Nike and the MLS’ San Jose Earthquakes.<p>
