Baseball enthusiasts can’t properly behold the glorious seventh-inning stretch in a crowded living room, because there’s always someone standing on the coffee table getting his forehead rhythmically slammed by the ceiling fan. Catch the game in comfort with today's Groupon: for $28, you get a 10-game punch card to the Kelowna Falcons baseball games (a $56 value).
As the only Canadian representative in the West Coast League, this wood-bat summer team fills its roster with some of North America's most promising collegiate sluggers. Coming off of a record-breaking season in 2010, the base stealers entertain supporters June, July, and August in the historic Elks Stadium, an outdoor playing field fashioned with grandstand seating from old Comiskey Park in Chicago. During nine innings of sacrifice bunts and diving catches, cheerleaders can sport their rally caps or redirect the wave while indulging in a hot dog under the arena lights. The Kelowna club caters to its younger fans, hosting quirky contests throughout the game and inviting them to a run around the bases using a series of covert catcher signals.
During its 11-year tenure, the leather-glove crew has developed more than 200 players, including six sticks who went on to star in their own MLB trading cards. Kelowna Falcon fans can redeem their punch card for 10 individual standoffs or invite nine friends for one big game and a faster concession-stand relay team.
