I always enjoy hearing Ken Sanders on KUER radio. His knowledge of books is amazing. He should be writing a book of all the stories about books, authors, etc. This store is a real treasure.

What You'll Get

A full bookshelf not only provides a conversation piece for guests, but it also lessens the odds they'll pull out the tome that triggers the trapdoor to your shrine to Don Knotts. Build up book collections and safeguard secrets with today's Groupon: for $20, you get $50 worth of new, used, and rare books at Ken Sanders Rare Books, located in Salt Lake City. This Groupon is valid for both in-store and online purchases and is also valid toward shipping.

Ken Sanders Rare Books, whose eponymous owner has been featured on Antiques Roadshow and ABC 4 News, ably feeds text consumers with various new, used, and rare volumes ($1.50+). More than 100,000 spinebounds span the 4,000-square-foot shop, which highlights subjects such as art, photography, Native American literature, and children's titles, while many collectible sets and books come bound in leather to trap their two-dollar prepositions and rare seventh-person omniscient narrators. Ken also hones in on pieces that cover Utah and the Mormons, Native Americana, the literary West, and modern first editions. Bookworms can further burrow through the wide variety of modern and classic authors, including Dave Eggers, David Foster Wallace, J.D. Salinger, E.L. Doctorow, and more.

Feel free to supplement your sensory buffet with one of the regular poetry readings or author signings or practice appraising strangers’ living rooms by browsing through Ken's collection of sepia-toned antiquarian works, vintage photography, antique maps, and postcards.

Owner Ken Sanders has appeared multiple times on Antiques Roadshow and was recently featured on ABC 4 News. Five Citysearchers give Ken Sanders Rare Books an average of four stars. More than 2,500 Facebookers are fans of the book store.

  • Ken's place is so much more than a bookstore. It's a cultural center for the city. There's so much to take in there. If you haven't been, treat yourself, and take some time to enjoy it. – utahtoad, Citysearch
