The Kent Theatre in Flatbush isn't just a movie theater—it's a movie star. A fixture in the neighborhood for many decades, the space was a favorite hangout of a teenage Woody Allen in the 1950s. Perhaps that was the reason he chose the Kent when scouting locations for The Purple Rose of Cairo, his paean to the early, less spaceship-filled days of cinema. The movie house still retains its vintage charm today, welcoming patrons with dramaturgical masks on its marquee and new releases on its three screens.

“I love this vintage theater”
“Fairly decent for the price. Quaint and have a nostalgic feel to it.”

“this is an older theatre. No bells and whistle but they have 4 screens and its a great local place to go check out a movie. I would recommend it for people who live near by. I would NOT recommend it for seeing movies that require lots of graphics and effects. I noticed that that lately they have been making a few improvements to the venue. Hopefully that will continue. Its a safe space to see a movie. Nothing fancy.”
