After leaving his home of Kilmory in Northern Scotland, Alexander Jamieson found an equally verdant home among the mountains and evergreens surrounding Placentia Bay. While working as a barrel maker for the area's thriving herring trade, Alexander settled among the picturesque bends of Piper Hole's River. He started a family, whose lineage continues through to his great-grandson Roger, who named Kilmory Resort in honor of his Scottish forefathers.
Spanning 21 individual pine-log chalets and cottages, Kilmory Resort affords guests seclusion year round on a tree-lined waterfront located 25 kilometres off the Trans-Canada Highway. Garnering a four-star ranking from Canada Select, the resort's accommodations include fully equipped kitchens in all lodgings, wireless internet in most of the chalets, and access to a heated pool in July and August. Kilmory's staff regales guests with tales such as "The Legend of Piper's Hole," as well as points the way toward nearby activities such as skiing at White Hills Ski Resort, fly fishing on the Black River, and water walking on Placentia Bay.
