It's not uncommon for a restaurant to place a chalkboard menu outside its door. But at King Street Sizzle Restaurant & Bar, passersby don’t often see a description of the eatery's steaks and burgers. Instead, the chalkboard displays playful inscriptions that might dub the day's special as "The Tears of Our Enemies" or remind customers that "winter is coming," encouraging them to enjoy the sidewalk patio before the Prime Minister lowers the national thermostat. True, the sign might not reveal much about the food—which the restaurant describes as "infused pub cuisine"—but the tongue-in-cheek board says a lot about the cheerful, casual ambiance.
Inside, guests sit at a long bar and sip draft beers or cocktails or select a glass from a list of more than two dozen international white and red wines. The libations complement the menu of burgers, steaks, and pub food, often crafted using organic ingredients. Shareable bites include garlic bread topped in homemade artichoke and roasted red pepper spread. An entree of Sizzle signature pasta showcases some of the kitchen's best ingredients: smoked chorizo sausage, shrimp, seasonal veggies, and lobster-filled ravioli.
