With today's side deal, $12 gets you one dozen mini cupcakes from Kingdom Cake in North Beach (a $24 value). This Groupon covers the five traditionally flavored cupcakes—chocolate, vanilla, red velvet, carrot, and lemon. Orders need to be placed 48 hours in advance.
Kingdom Cake is one of San Francisco's dainty dessert hotspots, and its new North Beach location provides frosting-deprived urbanites with a menu full of inventively crafted portions of universally craved cupcakes. Kingdom Cake has a takeout window that's open Thursday–Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. The generous owner, sympathetic to sudden confection needs, will arrange alternate pickup times for customers who can't make the scheduled hours or who find themselves tangled in a high-level extortion that can only be satisfied with millions of dollars or a dozen mini Kingdom Cake cupcakes.
Chelsea Lopez has been making art all her life, but it wasn't until 2008 that her focus turned from mosaic tiling and oil painting to edible masterpieces. That was the year Chelsea quit her day job and poured all of her passion and energy into the creation of artisan cakes and cupcakes. At Kingdom Cake, her creative vision has yielded traditional tiered specialty cakes topped with iced flowers, hand-painted wedding cakes, and barnyard-themed birthday cakes complete with edible pigs, sheep, and cows. But her creativity isn't limited to cake design—she's also invented a number of unique and inspired cupcake flavors including chipotle bacon chocolate, pina colada, basil lemon blueberry, and the Elvis, a banana, peanut butter, and bacon cupcake baked in a blue suede shoe.
