What You'll Get
Learning to cook is an important step on the path to growing up, much like getting your driver's license or teaching your dog to do your taxes. Walk to the culinary crossroads with today's Groupon; for $12, you get a 90-minute Lunch and Learn class at Kitchens on the Square (a $25 value).
Under the experienced tutelage of Chef Adrienne Ritchey, cooking classes at Kitchens on the Square give cooking rookies the opportunity to watch and learn how to prepare a traditional Southern meal. Students follow along as the chef leads each intimate class in a 90-minute cooking demonstration, walking pupils step by step through the preparation of Southern fare more authentic than cornbread baked by Tennessee Williams. Past menus have featured springtime collard greens, shrimp and grits with roasted red pepper and goat cheese, and crazy culinary co-marriages like PB&J Twinkies. At the end of each class, attendees get to feast on their creations, leaving with a full belly, copies of all the recipes, and a newfound confidence during rap-battle tie-breaking cook-offs.
Classes are offered every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 11:30 a.m. After each class, take advantage of 10% off any items purchased at Kitchens on the Square that day. The cookware depot stocks a variety of cutlery and boards, cookware, tableware, spices, and more, including wares featured on Paula's Home Cooking and in Cooking with Paula Deen.
