Learning to cook is an important step on the path to growing up, much like getting your driver's license or teaching your dog to do your taxes. Walk to the culinary crossroads with today's Groupon: for $12, you get a 90-minute Lunch and Learn class at Kitchens on the Square (a $25 value).
The laid-back and fun cooking classes at Kitchens on the Square utilize the latest gadgets on the market to make cooking easier and give intimate groups of eight the opportunity to watch and learn how to prepare a traditional Southern meal. The culinarian leads the 90-minute cooking demonstration, walking pupils step by step through the preparation of Southern fare more authentic than cornbread baked by Tennessee Williams. The current menu parades bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin and adventurous culinary marriages such as carrot-cake Twinkies. Future menus will star creamy mac 'n' cheese alongside diminutive cornbread bundts. At the end of each class, attendees feast on their creations, leaving with a full belly, copies of all the recipes, and a newfound confidence during the cooking portion of rap battles.
Classes take place every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 11:30 a.m. As an added bonus, students may take advantage of a 10% discount on merchandise at Kitchens on the Square on the day of their scheduled class.
