This is the best thing I've bought on Groupon. Teri is a fantastic teacher and friend. She helped me gain so much confidence in my ability to knit! It hasn't even been a year and I've made hand warmers, socks, a sweater, and 2 scarves!

It was a little confusing as to where the first class ended and the second began but she spent waaaaay more time than was listed with us. Both classes together were supposed to be 3 hours? but she spent 5 hours with us. She had awesome stories about knitting around the world and the class and her approach to knitting was totally laid back. If I could devote the time to getting anywhere with my scarf, I would definitely go back for more help.

About This Deal

Choose from Three Options

  • $79 for eight knitting classes and unlimited drop-in knitting for one year ($179 value)
  • $25 for a 90-minute Knitting 101 and Knitting 102 class ($65 value)
  • $25 for Knitting 101 and 102 refresher class with a 90-minute Knitting 201 class ($99 value)

In Knitting 101, students learn to execute maneuvers such as the knit and purl stitches, casting on and casting off, and the no-hands drop stitch, taking steps toward the completion of a scarf, hat, or socks. Knitting 102 reinforces skills from the 101 course and builds upon them with increase stitches, decrease stitches, and the basics of cable knitting. Students complete a shawl and a sweater over the course of three classes (this Groupon only covers the first class). Alternatively, Knitting 201 focuses on cable knits and projects larger than a beach-ball cozy. The one-year package allows customers to enjoy unlimited drop-in knitting, knit-alongs, and sit-and-knits. See the full class schedule.

About Knitting101.org

Knitting101.org operates as a nonprofit organization with the noble mission of advancing knitting as a vehicle for the greater good. The shop supports local yarn and fiber spinners, as well as local suppliers of yarn materials and tie-dyed sheep. The outfit also works with wounded soldiers, knits for military families, and promotes knitting as a therapeutic method of lowering blood pressure and coping with life-altering illnesses. During classes, needlers of all knitting levels gain the skills needed to create their own wearable art. Specialty sessions, such as Knitting for Lefties, Parent and Child Knitting, and Knitting Flowers, add a twist to the basics, while travel knitting opportunities whisk students to knit-friendly destinations such as New York City, Iceland, and France where they delve into local customs such as knitting sweaters for the Eiffel Tower.
